Michael Crichton Dead at 66

He was my favorite authors and wrote such great books as Disclosure, Jurassic Park, and The Andromeda Strain.

Born in Chicago Oct. 23, 1942, Crichton graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College, received his MD from Harvard Medical School, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, researching public policy with Jacob Bronowski. He has taught courses in anthropology at Cambridge University and writing at MIT. Crichton's 2004 bestseller, "State of Fear," acknowledged the world was growing warmer, but challenged extreme anthropogenic warming scenarios.

This is relevant because he pled guilty and got the usual anger management, community service, etc.

Larry 'Bozo' Harmon Dead At 83

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Larry Harmon, who turned the character Bozo the Clown into a show business staple that delighted children for more than a half-century, died Thursday of congestive heart failure. He was 83.

His publicist, Jerry Digney, told The Associated Press he died at his home.

Although not the original Bozo, Harmon portrayed the popular clown in countless appearances and, as an entrepreneur, he licensed the character to others, particularly dozens of television stations around the country. The stations in turn hired actors to be their local Bozos.

"You might say, in a way, I was cloning BTC (Bozo the Clown) before anybody else out there got around to cloning DNA," Harmon told the AP in a 1996 interview.

I have to wonder if this happened today how many lawsuits there would be against Harmon saying that “they” were the original Bozo and they were due royalties.  Of course, the most famous Bozo (aside from Bill Clinton) was on WGN Chicago, but the most famous isn’t always the first.

For instance, most people don’t know that the first Kentucky Fried Chicken was in Utah.  Yes, Utah. 

“No, moron!  It was in Corbin, Kentucky!” you say?  Well, that’s actually Harlan Sanders’ first restaurant.  But the first Kentucky Fried Chicken (I refuse to sanitize it and call it KFC) was in Utah.  Ironically, it was the Utahan that came up with the name, too.

The economy may be tight right now, but my point is this:  Do your own thing.  Find your own opportunities and then work hard to turn them in to your own American Dream.  Opportunities exist everywhere.  You just need to see them and then put your shoulder to the wheel and work.

It's no secret that HRC thinks her 8 years as First Lady of the USA and her 7 years as a US senator gives her enough foreign affairs experience to be President of the United States (POTUS).  It's not even in dispute that she has garnered this so-called experience by virtue of her extensive travel on behalf of her husband, rapist-in-chief Bill Clinton.  By this standard, Michael Reagan claims that he would be qualified as well, but I think Willie Nelson is a much better choice because he's the only popular native-born American who has been everywhere:

Goodbye William F. Buckley, Jr.

William F. Buckley, Jr., conservative stalwart and icon, has passed away at 82.  He was most recognized for his stammering, careful speech and Robin Williams did an outstanding impression of him.

When I was in high school, the debate topic that year was, "Resolved:  that the United States should curtail arms sales to other countries."  William F. Buckley, Jr. played a prominent and frequent role in my shredding of the Affirmative's cases (I was a 1st Negative).  The highest compliment paid to me was after I'd won a debate in spite of the liberal judges' attempts to minimize my score, the judge wrote on the comments, "your Buckley piece stinks."

Buckley will be missed.

Rudy's big endorsement! Everyone else might just as well quit!

Did you hear?!  Rudy got a huge celebrity endorsement!  It's John Voight!

What's that?  Who's John Voight?  Oh, he's Angelina Jolie's dad. 

What?  No, Angelina didn't endorse Rudy.  Rudy was heard to say that he did endorse Angelina's big breasts, so take that for what it's worth.

But all the rest of you candidates better just hang it up because there's no stopping Rudy now!  He's got the old-washed-up-actor-who-is-lonely-and-wants-to-see-his-name-in-print-one-more-time-before-he-dies vote and as we all know, that's part of Rudy's say-f-you-to-everyone-but-floridians-and-old-feebs-who-want-attention strategy!!

Union Thugs Harassing Paula Deen

Paula Deen is certainly one of Georgia's most famous celebrities these days.  The Savannah entrepreneur is one of the most popular celebrity chefs in the country and that fact apparently isn't lost on the organized labor thugs. 

But union protestors have seized on her celebrity status to call attention to their dispute with a food manufacturer, even going so far as to picket Deen.

Notice that they aren't having any kind of dispute with Paula Deen, but they are just trying to use her status as a celebrity to draw attention to the fact that they're not wanted and they think they should be able to force themselves on any company they choose, even if the employees don't want them:

"Smithfield is for giving their employees what they want, and they gave their employees the opportunity to vote, and they voted the union out. I have been to this plant. I have talked to the workers, and all I can do is take these workers at their word," she said.

And this is the essence of the Commucrat's dogma.  It doesn't matter what you want.  It is all about what's best for you and naturally, they are the ones who should be deciding that.  This couldn't be more Marxist if Karl wrote it himself! 

If you want to see the Democrat platform come to life, you only need to watch the unions, how they operate, and what they bring (and take from) employees.  Everything is about force.  Everything is about thuggery and coercion.  If they don't get their way, they bully you and try to ruin you.  The facts don't matter.  What you want doesn't matter.  Like any dictatorial regime, they are all about choice as long as you choose what they choose. 

They are pro-choice unless you want to have a baby.

They want women to choose their career unless that career is motherhood.

They want more blacks involved in politics unless you're conservative and then you're "Uncle Tom".

And they want people to be able to choose to belong to unions as long as you can't choose not to belong to one.
