Fearing President Obama: 5-Health Care

How would you react if your doctor wanted to treat you with leaches, phrenology, and shock therapy?  That’s essentially what Obama is proposing.  No, I’m not suggesting that socialized medicine will treat people with leaches.  I’m making the comparison to old medical philosophies and techniques that were debunked a long time ago.

The simple fact is that everywhere it’s tried it leads to rationed healthcare.  This means that if you have non-urgent surgery, you could wait up to a year.

Aside from national defense, can you name one government run industry that has succeeded?

When people need exceptional care, they come to America.  They don’t go to Canada and they don’t go to England.  They come to the USA because we have the best healthcare system in the world.

We do take care of the poor and while I think something needs to be done about the insurance racket, I don’t want to have to have the democrat equivalent of ration stamps just to get a normal procedure.

Abortion, Tomatoes, & Socialized Medicine

A young woman in England has died after taking RU-486 because she felt the pregnancy would cause problems for her Muslim boyfriend's family.  Her mother says she was a "devout Christian" though one has to wonder.  There are so many things wrong with this story that it's difficult to know where to start.

Mifeprex, aka RU-486 abortion pill

Abortion advocates tell everyone that they want abortions to be safe, but they aren't safe for the mother at all:

RU-486 has been approved for use in the U.S. since 2000. It has been linked to deaths of at least seven women in the U.S.

And that's just one method of abortion.  This doesn't account for the millions of mid-gestational babies that are killed. It also doesn't say how many complications there have been.

Let's compare that to tomatoes, shall we?  Current estimates are over 200 cases of illness and a single death have been linked to suspect tomatoes.  But wait, that's not all.  200 cases is what's been reported to the CDC.  Only 25 have been hospitalized.  So that's 25 in the hospital and one dead cancer patient and the country is up in arms.  Where's the outcry over the 7 dead?  Should this not be a public health issue?  Would health advocates go nuts if nothing was about this "tomato problem"?  You bet your butt they would!

The story overlooked what I think is the most newsworthy piece of information:

Dr. Lucy Jackson, who treated Jones, told the inquest that doctors initially failed to diagnose the condition because "the hospital was extremely busy" the night the teen checked in. Fighting back tears, Jackson said if the hospital had not been so busy, things might have turned out differently.

And this is the health-care system that the democrats want to emulate?  Aside from the inherent risks associated with abortion, this woman should not have died.  She died because the hospital was too busy to even diagnose her.

Socialized medicine is what killed this woman and the doctor admitted it!!!

Again, this is one more reason why this election is so important and why Barry Obama should never be allowed near the White House.

Why are we afraid of everything?!

There has been a nasty salmonella outbreak in tomatoes that has made 167 people sick and killed 1 in Texas and has affected 17 states.  It truly is an unfortunate situation.  However, the last time I checked, that left 33 states just fine:

Growers in states such as Georgia, South Carolina and California, which federal investigators have said are not associated with the outbreak, are just starting to harvest and ship.

That's all well and good, right?  Well, just try to buy anything with a tomato in it at McDonald's.  Every McDonald's in the US has stopped selling items with sliced tomatoes because of the fear of salmonella.

But if you live outside of the affected areas you should still be fine, right?  Think again.

But convincing consumers, retailers and restaurants to restock is another matter. The country's largest restaurant chains and supermarkets have dropped tomatoes, with many saying they're avoiding all tomatoes regardless of origin out of an abundance of caution.

I refuse to be one of those who lives his life in fear of the next calamity or disease.  We take precautions and we act prudently and hopefully we'll be fine.  But when you live in fear of everything from trans-fats in your popcorn oil to salmonella in tomatoes, you become paralyzed with fear.  I'd rather live life than fear it.

Democrats and their Health Hypocrisy

FDR in Wheelchair

Franklin D. Roosevelt, Democrat president with Polio, which is an often fatal disease.  He was elected 4 times.

Did I mention that he was a Democrat?

So knock it off with the John McCain health criticism unless you really want ads with pictures like the one above painting Democrats and anti-disabled.
