My local county board has had its rights affirmed by an appeals court who said that prayer before meetings is fine.
ATLANTA (AP) -- A federal appeals court has upheld a suburban Atlanta county's practice of allowing clergy to open meetings with Christian prayers.
The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals 2-1 ruling on Tuesday allows Cobb County officials to open meetings of its Board of Commissioners and planning commission with invocational prayers from invited clergy.
Cobb County officials said clergy from all faiths are allowed to deliver the prayers, but lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union contended the invocations are "overtly Christian prayers" that send a message that the religion is sponsored by the county.
Read the last paragraph carefully. Notice that the issue isn’t prayer. It’s “Christian prayers”. If they had an Imam there doing the prayers (but not a Rabbi) or a neo-pagan, there would be no problem. The issue is Christianity again.

A primary tactic of the Left is the constant battle to define the Right by trying to redefine reality itself. With the help of the MSM, they will fill a diatribe with lies and then build on those lies to make their real point. It is as effective as it is subversive.
Because of this ploy, a number of lies have become accepted as fact simply because they have been repeated so much:
- Joe McCarthy was responsible for Hollywood blacklisting.
- Silicone breast implants caused cancer.
- Abortion rights are in the Constitution.
- Nuclear power is dangerous
Not that it is any surprise, but they’re trying again but this time they are trying to bury Reaganism and conservatism with this strategy:
Having doubled-down on Reaganism, they know that a loss under these circumstances would be not just a momentary electoral set back, but a huge repudiation of conservative ideology, and a huge mandate for progressivism. And so conservatives are already trying to revise history to pretend these last few months of the campaign never happened.
Sirota, a socialist in his own right (he was Bernie Sanders’ press secretary) errs at a very fundamental level:
- John McCain is not a Reagan conservative, in spite of his own claims.
- Barack Obama has been trying to hide his Wilsonian progressive agenda.
And so Sirota attempts to cloak his own revisionism by preemptively accusing Republicans ahead of time of his own scheme and cloaks it in the term “conservative”.
It’s not going to work.
The only way Scrota’s scenario would be true would be if Obama had run as a “progressive” instead of trying to appear moderate. Most who will vote for Obama don’t think he supports progressive socialism. They don’t think he wants to take from one group and give to another. That’s socialism. They will scream (as Biden did) that the correct characterization of Obama as a Marxist is just an attack. If the electorate thought that progressivism was being voted on, they would reject it. One only needs to read the Huffington Post itself to see how the so-called progressives have chastised Obama for trying to move to the right.
Further, nobody in their right mind would characterize McCain as a conservative. McCain is pro-amnesty. He votes against tax cuts. He thinks corporate profits should fall under government scrutiny. He’s drunk the global warming Kool-Aid. He voted for the $700,000,000,000 bailout and never saw a “stimulus” he didn’t like.
If Obama is elected, the only mandate is that George W. Bush is an idiot, but not the sophomoric way the commulibs portray him. He’s an idiot because he thought “bipartisan” meant something other than “Democrats getting their way and still criticizing Republicans for it.”

If Obama wins, we will have our own Mussolini, our own version of “Il Duce” but nearly half of us are not deceived. For Obama will in reality be Di Sinistra Duce, the Left-Wing Leader.
Obama may end up holding the office of President and he will be “my president” in that sense, but he will never be my leader. I will never follow Fascista Duce into ruin.

Once again, the AJC has chosen to use its headlines to cast police activity in a negative light:
Looks like a real travesty, doesn’t it? When you read that, what’s your first assumption? You assume that the article is about how the police shot an innocent bystander who just happened to be at the scene of the crime.
A silent alarm was tripped, and when the responding officer arrived, the boy fled on foot toward a minivan registered to his mother, Bolton said. After a brief tussle, the youth allegedly jumped into the vehicle, threw it into reverse and nearly hit a second officer who had just arrived.
The second officer’s patrol car was hit, and the first officer fired at the teen, hitting him “more than once,” Bolton said. The boy was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston and is expected to recover from his wounds.
In other words, officers shot a burglary suspect who was trying to murder them. But you won’t read that in the main stream media, will you?

Chris of Rights has an absolutely outstanding and extensive dissertation on just how and why Obama is the Marxist he denies he is.
And I'll spend the rest of this very long post backing that up. I'm
going to talk about a lot of things here, and I really should break it
up into several posts, but I'm not going to.
Let's start by looking at some of his history:
- Obama
says that the well-known Marxist, Frank Marshall Davis was a “decisive
influence” on him. This is in his book and and has been documented by
the Communist Party USA.
- Obama
says, "All of my life, I carried a single image of my father, one that
I .. tried to take as my own." But what do we know about his father? We
know that he supported:
- 100% taxation
- communal farms / the elimination of private farming
- the nationalization of businesses owned by “Europeans” and “Asians”.
- “active” measures to bring about a classless society
And this is just the beginning. Read the whole post for a lot, lot more.

I've been meaning to comment on this since it came out yesterday, but I've been swamped with another blog software upgrade. I'll just summarize shortly by pointing out how similar the democrat idea of targeting the donors who support McCain for intimidation purposes is to the Scientology practice of "dead agenting" whereby you do everything you can to discredit and destroy a person's reputation in order to get them to shut up.
Michelle Malkin has the documents that they are sending out and they're well worth perusal.
As noted by See-Dubya last night, the oh-so-tolerant leftists have launched a campaign to send “WARNING” letters to potential GOP donors in a thuggish attempt to depress Republican fund-raising. A reader sent me a copy of the actual letter from “Accountable America”–the brainchild of the same MoveOn miscreants who spearheaded the General Betray Us smear.

Former congresswoman and all around nutjob, Cynthia McKinney is the Green Party nominee. The funny part? She’s not even on the ballot here on Georgia.
CHICAGO — Former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney reassumed the national political stage Saturday, winning the presidential nomination of the Green Party of the United States at the party's national convention here.
Amid chants of "Paint The White House Green" and signs proclaiming, "Truth. McKinney 2008," McKinney revved up a crowd of about 350 Green Party delegates from 38 states who elected her on the first ballot.

Get this:
The court ruled that a blanket ban on handguns is unconstitutional, but D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty and other Washington officials want to keep in place a prohibition on semiautomatic handguns — those in which a bullet clip is inserted into the gun’s grip.
I assumed that since “handgun” is a compound word, from “hand” and “gun” that even the libs would understand that under Heller you can’t ban a “gun” that fits in the “hand”. Apparently, I was wrong.
What I don’t understand is why. Haven’t they ever seen Dirty Harry
? Clint Eastwood carried a .44 revolver in all of those movies. The criminals were just as dead. As Clint said, “… will blow your head clean off…”

From the moment I read this story in the LA Times, I’ve been searching for the other 3 horsemen.
Four years on from the first Senate Intelligence Committee report, war critics, old and newfangled, still don't get that a lie is an act of deliberate, not unwitting, deception. If Democrats wish to contend they were "misled" into war, they should vent their spleen at the CIA.
In 2003, top Senate Democrats -- not just Rockefeller but also Carl Levin, Clinton, Kerry and others -- sounded just as alarmist. Conveniently, this month's report, titled "Whether Public Statements Regarding Iraq by U.S. Government Officials Were Substantiated by Intelligence Information," includes only statements by the executive branch. Had it scrutinized public statements of Democrats on the Intelligence, Foreign Relations and Armed Services committees -- who have access to the same intelligence information as the president and his chief advisors -- many senators would be unable to distinguish their own words from what they today characterize as warmongering.
Somebody pinch me!
Now maybe we can discuss the merits of the war rather than the polemics of “Bush Lied, People Died”.
Oh wait, there are people like Reverend Jerry who think the government developed AIDS to use on blacks. Never mind. Most liberals are still a lost cause.

I highly doubt that is the case, but when you see the following screen from the company founded on the motto, "Don't Be Evil" you have to wonder:
