10 Reasons I Fear a President Obama: 10-Character

I had a conversation with my Obamabot (aka Bro-bama) brother last night and in it, I mentioned that more so than any election in my life, I’m genuinely afraid of a candidate winning.  Rather than mimic the vague and somewhat hysterical fear-mongering that typifies the American Left, I’m going to give a mere 10 reasons why Obama scares the starch out of me.  I will make 1 point per post throughout the day, starting with this post.

Don’t try to come back with me about John McCain on this, either.  This series isn’t about McCain, it’s about Obama.  It’s not about Palin and it’s not about Biden.  I’ll use the other 3 to illustrate points, but McCain’s actions or for that matter anyone else’s do not change Obama, nor do they justify him.  Such a mindset is childish.

I remember one time when my aforementioned brother was barely an adult but living at home.  My father objected to Bro-bama’s smoking and had seen cigarettes in his room.  My dad himself had quit and he believed that my mom had quit as well.  She hadn’t, and Dad was the only one who didn’t know.

Well, my dad was really raking him over the coals (as he was wont to do on such occasions) and Bro-bama was really feeling the heat.  What was his response?  “Mom smokes, too!”  Of course, Dad was livid and felt betrayed and went for a drive, probably to keep from saying things he couldn’t take back.  End result:  Dad stopped going after Bro-bama.

I mention this because it is precisely the typical tactic used by someone who doesn’t have a reasoned argument.  I’m not saying that there aren’t Obama supporters who have reasoned arguments.  The unfortunate reality is that most (including Bro-bama) don’t.  As a result, they resort to deflection and diversion.

For example, in my conversation last night I mentioned Obama’s inexperience and rather than try to refute the claim, he threw out the old (and wrong, I might add) chestnut that he’s better qualified than Sarah Palin.  Whether it’s true or not is not the point.  It’s the tactic of distraction, diversion, and deflection.*

So I’ll say again, this is not about why I think John McCain would be a (marginally) better president, it’s about why Obama should be feared in his own right, independent of his opponent.

Reason #10 – Character

ayers-on-flagRegardless of what Bill Clinton would still have you believe, character matters.  The reason that character is so important is that it helps you to judge what a person may do in times of crisis.  For instance, Bill Clinton’s character led him to order an aspirin factory to be bombed to distract from a domestic “dress scandal”.

While some would say that it is judgment that is important, it is the character of a person that drives his judgment.  The two are inseparable.  Decisions may or may not derive from logic, but they are always based on judgment.  One is evidence of the other and vice-versa.

  1. Sat for 20 years in the pew of a church whose pastor taught the racist Black Liberation Theology.  He (Wright) blames America for 9/11 and AIDS as a plot to kill black people.  Obama claims that in that 20 years as his pastor and spiritual mentor, he didn’t know that Wright believed those things. Wright said Obama is only changing his stance because he has to compromise to get elected.  Either Obama is lying about knowing what Wright taught and continuing to support it or he’s an idiot.  I think we can all agree that Barry’s no idiot.
  2. Maintained a close association with William Ayers, an admitted terrorist who has bombed the Pentagon, police stations, and more.  While Obama was indeed only a child when that happened, Ayers has never apologized for his acts nor has he disavowed the tactics that he used.  Conversely, he has repeatedly clarified his actions as something he wished he had been able to do more.  Obama first said that Ayers was just someone in the neighborhood.  Then he said their kids played together.  Ayers’ kids are adults, so it’s a complete lie.  Some would ask what Obama saw in Ayers but the real question is what did Ayers see in Obama that he liked so much?
  3. In spite of his declaration that “I am my brother’s keeper” Obama’s half-brother, George Obama, lives in squalor in a shack in Kenya.
  4. Obama’s aunt lives in a slum in Boston, where she’s been an illegal alien for the last 4 years.  Obama said he hasn’t been able to contact her.  Oddly enough, the media had no such problem.
  5. Was an attorney for ACORN, an organization long associated with voter fraud.  In this election, there have been arrests in at least 9 states for organized election fraud.
  6. Was an attorney for now-jailed felon Tony Rezko and received what is generally regarded as a “sweetheart deal” on his own house from Rezko.
  7. Admitted to being close friends with PLO spokesman Rashid Khalidi during a time when the PLO was actively calling for the destruction of Israel.
  8. In spite of stating for over a year that he would engage in a publicly funded campaign, he ultimately rejected public funding, denying it was a change in position.
  9. Has refused to release his medical records (others have) and even his Hawaii birth certificate.  It’s very unusual for a candidate to be so secretive about basic documents unless there is something they don’t want the public to find out.

It must be noted about #3 and #4, Obama is a multi-millionaire.

Even Bill Clinton didn’t have these anti-American associations.  In fact, no American president has been so friendly with anti-American individuals since FDR referred to mass-murderer Joseph Stalin as “Uncle Joe”.

Next up: Free Speech

* For the record, comparing Obama to Palin would be like comparing Reagan to Ferraro.
