Marietta Georgia's Racial Hypocrisy

Marietta (which is in Cobb County) has been getting attention for the racism and poor taste of a certain bar owner's idea of a joke.

You have the self-righteous protesting this bar, supposedly because of the racism of the Curious George t-shirts.   But is it because of the racism or because of the target?  I'm sure that many will say that it's a ridiculous question.

It's not.

There are crowds and protests and news articles about a single business owner.  But what about when a presidential candidate isn't involved?   What if it's not a person making a political commentary?  What if it's a government targeting ethnic groups at the prompting of a few old white people?  The crowds and protests would be there too, right?

Almost a year ago I posted about Cobb County, Georgia and its War on Mexicans.  I've reposted it below and encourage you to see the hypocrisy that happens when a politician is involved.

Where were the crowds then?  Oh that's right.  These hispanics weren't involved in the election of the New Obamessiah.

"We just want safety.  We want what's best for them."  This is the mantra of the bigoted and the elite when they try to cover up their racist agenda.  Here in Georgia, in the Old South, the hatred runs deep and it runs strong.  Ironically, it is not directed at blacks, but at Latinos.  Where I live in Cobb County, East Cobb to be precise, there is an undercurrent of elitism and snobbery that is almost palpable and our illustrious county commissioners have now gone on record with that agenda, even as the mantra continues as much to convince themselves of its truthfulness as its surrounding communities.

Anyone who's read this blog for any time should know how much I am against illegal immigration.  My opinions and remedies are strong and unwavering.  I don't think we need to make excuses for trying to get rid of illegals and severely punish the people who hire them.  The consequences for being in this country illegally should be nothing less than immediate deportation and for businesses that continually hire illegals, their ability to do business should be revoked and, if necessary, the corporation be dissolved.  But this doesn't mean that I think we have a right to use "any means necessary" to get them out, or in the case of Cobb County, to get them out of our neighborhood.

Unfortunately, that's just what some people think and in Cobb County it's taken the form of passing laws directed specifically at certain Hispanic families.

Ten people are living in Zugey Arzate's little brick house in east Cobb County, and her neighbors say the crowd is causing big problems.

Arzate says her 1,511-square-foot home on Little Road has ample space for her and her nine relatives from Mexico.

Isn't that special?  Doesn't that just touch your heart?  It's moving to see how people are concerned about crowded conditions and the health and safety of their neighbors, isn't it?  Don't grab your hanky just yet:

Neighbors say that's far too many people in a single-family home.

Who gives a rat's behind what Neighbors say!  It's not their house!  Is it a health issue?  Is it a safety issue?  What's the big problem?

They have counted as many as 10 cars on her property.

I want you to read the last two words carefully: "her property".  Property rights used to mean something in this country.  It used to be the very basis upon which our liberty rested.  Liberty essentially means "If I'm not hurting you or hurting anyone else, leave me alone."  It's her property.  Is there a covenant in that neighborhood?  Apparently not, otherwise this would be enforced that way.  I've lived in covenant communities with neighborhood associations.  There is always a busybody cum Führer to enforce the rules and make everyone toe the line.  But there's one key difference.  I chose to abide by those rules.

And what about the cars?  They must be junk cars and be a complete eyesore, right?  Fortunately, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution was kind enough to let us see the junk yard of Federico San Ford e Hijo :

cars in driveway & mexican haters

Wait a second.  That's it???  Those are decent cars!  Heck, they look better than what I drive.  I was expecting something more like this:

Junkyard

or even one of these:

el camino

So where is this problem?  Alas, the article tells us in the very next sentence:

They fear for their property values. [emphasis added]

Does that sound familiar?  Well, it should.  This is the same argument that has been used to keep out any minority or other class that is deemed "undesirable" by those doing the discriminating.  But I'm forced to ask something.  Are they really hurting property values?  I did some checking and according to Zillow, the Arzate home is actually worth more than Max Warner's home on Freydale Rd in spite of being smaller by 700 sq ft!!.  Warner is the cheerful fellow featured in the photo, also shown here:

 warner-bigots

So it seems to me that the real motivator here is not only bigotry but jealousy.  The Arzates have a better home worth more money and the Warners (and others) just can't handle that.  Maybe Max should worry more about the fact that his house is behind a school as a reason for his property values instead of his good neighbors, the Arzates.

This whole situation sickens me.  This isn't about immigration at all, in spite of what people might say.  It's bigotry, plain and simple.
